Up until then, I struggled with shipping most of my ideas.
I didn't have any problems coming up with ideas. I had new ideas every day that I would jot down in my notes.
In fact, I had a long running list of my favourite ideas that I dreamt of launching someday...
Many of those ideas had been on my list for years, some even more than a decade.
When I looked at my list, I started to see them as a reminder that I couldn't ship, I couldn't follow through and a whole lot unhelpful - and incorrect - negative self talk that undermined my confidence.
The truth is, I wasn't set up to ship effectively
- I didn't know how to ship - I didn't have a system nor practised the skills
- I was overwhelmed by the number of ideas I had
- I hadn't created the space to ship
Plus I was hoarding my best ideas, keeping them “safe” from any possibly harsh reality.
One day it frustrated me so much that I just thought - stuff it, I'm going to launch 10 of my favourite ideas out in the world as little ships 🚢 and see if they sink or swim.
And over those 10 days in October, I did just that.
I ended up...
- creating 10 Sales Pages
- creating 3 new ebooks
- designing 3 new workshops
- creating detailed programs for two cohort courses (one 4 week and another 6 weeks)
- creating a new mini-course
- transforming 4 courses (e.g from old workshops into courses)
It was A LOT! (I actually ended up launching more than 10 things all up)
I don't think I had made 10 things in 10 years outside of my job, so things that didn't have an external deadline, things that I owned.
Yet here I was shipping #LikeABoss
